Ruby is a rare mineral obtained from ruby ore and loot chests. They are mainly used to craft high-tier tools and armor.
Ruby ore mined using an amethyst pickaxe or stronger drops a single ruby. If mined by any other tool, it drops nothing. If the pickaxe is enchanted with Fortune, it can drop an extra ruby per level of Fortune. If the ore is mined using a pickaxe enchanted with Silk Touch, it drops an ore block rather than a single ruby. The ore is found in the Overworld and the Mining Paradise next to lava between Y levels 6 and 18. It can also be found in The Nether next to lava between Y levels 18 and 24 and in netherrack and blackstone between Y levels 0 and 128.
Hercules Beetles have a chance of dropping 0-1 rubies upon death. Ruby Bugs have a 10% chance to drop a ruby upon death.
Rubys can generate in chests in Ent Dungeons.
